11/9/08 10:16 pm - and today...one and a half inches of crunchy white crystals underfoot outside this morning after having bounced hard off the window & everywhere else for five minutes; that's some seriously strong winds coming in from the west, bringing those wintry showers, that is... i'm used to the wet & all that, what with this being the north-wet; but it never really got light here at all today... finally discovered where i'd put the ibm pcdos 7 disk set, so i should be able to get a machine going as i-m-t-in-the-shop again after a week (or is it a fortnight now?) without; also a socket7 mother board, which it'll be interesting to see whether i can get the 5x86 chip into, in the box whose motherboard bios battery failed and isn't apparently replaceable - that'd be the best, if not necessarily the easiest way to do thnigs; and, failing that, see if it'll use the 486-dx2 chip out of the bloodystupidcompaq or dell boxes... the shop? oh, the landlord stuck his head in the door again - he's worked out how to get the outside paint job done, without spending any of the money the insurance company gave him, to go away and get it done with: he's increased next door's rent, but is allowing them to get the gloss work on the front of the whole of the ground floor of the building done, and take it off their first increased installment. any bets on whether it'll be done before easter next year out there? |

and lo, there was telephonic communication; and both were reassured - at least to the continued existence of a clever plastic replicant of the other, doubtless in at least one bearing the moulded impression, "empire made"...

I had begun to think that the Great North Wet had eated you all up!

no, no; the great north-wet is, by and large, benign; but it's been a poor year, in more senses than one. the economic impact of IMT's having been effectively forced closed from autumn, last year, through spring, this, are with me still.
meanwhile, what are the chances of the survival of civilisation like, back in bell green?
